Accommodation

Excellent accommodation is freely available in all the major Free State towns and environs. Known for its hospitality, the province offers a wide range of top quality accommodation, ranging from star-rated establishments with conference facilities and casino's to friendly, rustic guest houses and guest farms, catering for tourists, businesspeople, families and students. So do pick your choice between five-star city hotels, large and luxurious or small and cosy country lodges, intimate guesthouses, charming rural cottages and comfortable bed-and-breakfast establishments - plus bush camps in nature reserves! Not surprisingly for several years now, Free State guest houses, guest farms and resorts have won numerous awards in national competitions.

Rural accommodation provides a special intimate atmosphere with delicious home cooking, personal attention and good service. And while staying at one of these establishments, explore the small towns nearby and discover craft shops selling pottery, local craft, homemade jams, and other edibles, as well as typical Free State produce such as cherries and asparagus.

Do keep in mind that the Free State also has its eight holiday resorts, situated at Gariep Dam, Maselspoort, Philip Sanders, Willem Pretorius Reserve, Sterkfontein Dam and in Bethlehem, Kroonstad and Sasolburg respectively.
